چکیده
We demonstrate a compact ( $367 \times 67 \, \mu {\text{m}}^2$ ) four-channel wavelength division multiplexer using an arrayed waveguide grating based on multimode interference couplers, and built monolithic silicon photonics platform. The design is particularly attractive due to the thin device layer. A semi-numerical approach was used for simulation. Optical measurements were found be consistent with simulation results. channel spacing, 3-dB bandwidth crosstalk measured 97 GHz, 87 GHz 9.6 dB, respectively, designed of operation near 1310 nm.

Silicon Photonics Platform for Government Applications
We review Sandia’s silicon photonics platform for government applications. Silicon photonics offers the potential for extensive size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-c) reductions compared to existing III-V or purely electronics circuits. The Sandia fabrication facility is certified as a trusted foundry and can therefore produce devices and circuits intended for military applications. We will des...
متن کاملBuilding manycore processor-to-DRAM networks using monolithic silicon photonics
Modern embedded systems already include dozens of cores on a single die and this number is expected to increase over the next decade. Corresponding increases in main memory bandwidth, however, are also required if the greater core count is to result in improved application performance. Projected future enhancements of existing electrical DRAM interfaces, such as XDR and FB-DIMM, are not expecte...
متن کاملHigh-power thulium lasers on a silicon photonics platform.
Mid-infrared laser sources are of great interest for various applications, including light detection and ranging, spectroscopy, communication, trace-gas detection, and medical sensing. Silicon photonics is a promising platform that enables these applications to be integrated on a single chip with low cost and compact size. Silicon-based high-power lasers have been demonstrated at 1.55 μm wavele...
متن کاملSilicon-based silicon-germanium-tin heterostructure photonics.
The wavelength range that extends from 1550 to 5000 nm is a new regime of operation for Si-based photonic and opto-electronic integrated circuits. To actualize the new chips, heterostructure active devices employing the ternary SiGeSn alloy are proposed in this paper. Foundry-based monolithic integration is described. Opportunities and challenges abound in creating laser diodes, optical amplifi...
